    Coastal NRIs, be forewarned :

Mangalore is the least ideal location to have an international airport of modern day standards.

NRIs should come forward when a totally new airport will be built from scratch upon completion of genuine feasibility studies and not based on the Mangalore lobby's interest.

Be warned that J.R. Lobo or others maybe lobbying on behalf of Mangalore lobby who think that NRIs can be coaxed to invest purely on sentimental values compared with the Keralites as voiced by Roshan Bag.

Let these leaders concentrate on providing basic facilities such as good roads, railway connectivity, facilities at the air port etc.

Rightly said, why the NRI money, Are money coming to NRI is coming from heaven. Is Govt. of India is not having sufficient money to build an Airport. Definitely NRI's will assist together to support India. Did Indian politician taken care of NRI demands so far. Ironically NRI has been treated as "Not Required Indians" in most of the Airport. Do ever politicians think how NRI's are earning money in abroad. A simple example that childrens of middleclass NRI's are not able to pursue Medical & Engg without paying capitation fees that too In Foreign currency. Its like Elephant is asking help from ant to lift log in the forest. Please make wise decision before you make any commitments with short term politicians.

Mr. Roshan Baig, custom officials are confiscating gold from the passengers (smuggling passengers) in Mangalore Airport so ask the gold from the custom department and use the money of that gold for the expansion of runways. Do not beg with the NRIs. Many NRIs are facing problems here, neither your selves nor embassy diplomats are concerned (bothered) about the NRIs problem.

Statues can get votes .NRI Indians going abroad since they do not get job here and a decent airport to travel to and from Mangalore to any other destinations is a necessity. At least 10 % of the remittances sent by Indians abroad must be used for building /extending the run way. It will become national asset not a liability like statues.

Why PPP? just keep smuggling gold from gulf in whatever manner/ parts of the body you like , it'll be our custom officials' pleasure to unhide it, and the revenue that'll fetch will be more than enough for any expansion project!
PS: custom officials, do turn a blind eye once in a while, just to entice more into the net.
