Mangalore, Nov 15: Fr Ignatius D’Souza, a Mangalorean priest working for the diocese of Lucknow, has successfully defended his doctoral thesis in Bibilical Theology entitled ‘The Question of Job’s Hope in the Face of God and the Function of Job 19:10 in its Context - an Exegetico-Theological Study of Job’, at the Cardinal Newman Auditorium, Urbanianum University, Rome on Tuesday, November 14, 2006.

Fr Ignatius defended his doctoral thesis in Italian language before a panel of erudite professors from the Urbanianum University with the support and encouragement of his dear and near ones who gathered in large numbers to cheer him up.

Ignatius D’Souza hails from Ashoknagar, Mangalore. He is the son of the late Cornel D’Souza and Lucy D’Souza. Fr J B Crasta, manager of St Joseph’s Workshop, Jeppu is his maternal uncle. His younger brother Fr Paul Melwyn D’Souza, Capuchin is an acclaimed musician and is rendering his service at Kengeri, Bangalore as the Prefect of Studies at the Capuchin Philosophy House.

Fr Ignatius has made every effort to bring together Mangaloreans in Rome, while he had been the president of the Konkani Kutam, Rome in 2004. He is a lovable person and ready to help anyone, without considering hardships.
The University, his professors and his Mangalorean friends have wished him great things ahead in the future. The singular success will be celebrated with due respect by the Konkani Kutam, on Sunday, November 26, with a concelebrated Eucharist at St.Lawrence of Brindisi International College of the Capuchins, Rome.
