Rakesh was on riding home in his bike when the accident took place. The POWER lies in us. The simple solution is to start a civil disobedience movement and not board any private buses till they clean up their act, install speed governors etc. No one can force us to board a private bus. The movement should have all strata of the society joining in and the buses should ply empty forcing everyone involved to think. We have the power and we need to use it. Let us use other mediums of transport during this movement - autos, car pools, bikes etc. We need all your support in making this happen. Let us be the change and let us change.

Unless something serious is done by the RTO to confiscate these private buses, punish the maddening drivers - no change will come to Mangalore. This city is losing its safety, charm and morals to these illiterate drivers and the bus owners who are the drive behind these mischiefs. Sad to see another young man being killed due to this recklessness. Look at the road from Nantoor to Kadri.... it is better to drive in a paddy field than this section of the road.

Urgency, competition these two words from private buses are taking innocent public lives,Our mangalore RTO is useless dept they only catch poor helmet less two wheeler reiders and fill tier pockets, i have never seen a RTO police taking action or warning against the private bus driver where they are the one breaking rule in traffic, rash driving, over horning, stooping bus on the middle of road, driving on foot fath,
let them check first whether all the buses will have valid license or permit then the truth will come out.

Dear All, while really feel for the family of the departed soul, please pray pardon me for my observation in the kind of present set-up - we can't blame anybody - we are all responsible for our own safety. However, it's a pity when we lose our heart and soul, due to someone else's mistake and who is responsible - we are all responsible I'll tell you why. If you look at the bus drivers calibre, even if they may be well-educated (there are graduate drivers mind you, as they end up in this job if they are not able to find a job of their choice and commensurate with their educational qualification) the driving / civic / common sense of most of the drivers, riders, pedestrians in this part of the world are simply horrible and who is responsible for this situation - not the drivers, for they are driven by the diktats of their companies that they need to make so many trips a day, if not they lose their wages / bonus / batta etc. So, the poor driver has no choice but to drive @ break-neck speed with nary a care for the general public. We are all simply spectators unless, the entire system changes - like good roads, walkways, driving discipline, pedestrian crossings @ heavily populated areas, adherence to strict driving rules and good road sense etc. etc.

But, who is going to implement all these - not the poor traffic police guys, who are hapless victims of the system who can't do justice to the uniform that they are wearing as it is a thankless job and no driver worth his salt maintains any road sense, driving sense, safety sense - all are interested in reaching their destination ASAP and it does not matter in the process if they have to break all rules and regulations in achieving their objective! It's like the Swachch Bharath Abhiyan - just look around Mangalore and see how clean is our city and does any one care! And then we complain that the govt is not doing anything and the police are ineffective etc. etc. The police are recruited by the govt and we the govt

What are the reasons for competition in private buses..... ? Dear RTO officials please look into this...
Create NO OVERTAKING zone in Mangalore city for all bus services. secondly create lane rules for all vehicles.
Cancel bus permit and driver license if found guilty.

How many more lives will need to be lost for the authorities to wake up? Our roads have become death beds and you should consider yourself lucky if you arrive home safe. Not a day passes without any accident in Mangalore and if the reckless driving of the private buses is responsible for this, then why is the Government not considering introduction of KSRTC buses? If the Minister concerned is receiving his 'cut' from the bus lobby, let him tell us the figure and the public can join together and raise money to pay him. We cannot afford to die a dog's life on the roads.

How many lives are lost in November? Recorded and not recorded.
This new trend of one bus chasing the other has taken over Mangalore roads. Many will lose their life due to this. Public should get involved to stop this rowdiness. Please call PCR 0824-222-0800 or Call RTO 0824-222-0577. I do call everyday and inform if I see one such incident. Your one call may save a innocent life of a Child.
Highway from Kuloor is 80KM speed limit. Even near Padua High School a sign board reads 80KM. One of these days a loaded LPG or Gasoline tanker truck will enter with 80KM speed into Nanthoor Circle. This Tanker will be Broad sided by another heavy vehicle or a speeding Moodbidri Karkal or any other bus coming from Bikarnakatte side. Impact will rupture the Tanker and disastrous situation
will happen. Deaths will be countless and buildings nearby will collapse. I spoke to many Police officials and they all blame Highway department for installing these signs without consulting Traffic Police. I just wonder who is in-charge of traffic?
Recently 3 vehicles fell on side tipped over with loss of life.

Really shocking news, young lad Rakesh in 20's died in bike accident at Kulshekar. More disgusting and disheartening is, the people who have witnessed this tragic accident, not bothered to call Ambulance or police immediately. Quick action by the onlookers could have saved the life of young Rakesh.

I do not know, is there is any law, where when the needy is refused to offer a helping hand, especially during the time of accident can be penalised. If such laws are there, request the police authorities to book these so called onlookers who have refused to call even ambulance or police, If the onlookers own son/children/parents would have been in that situations, are those lookers would have kept quiet?

Heartfelt condolences to the bereaved members of the family. RIP Rakesh.

Very sad to hear this news - RIP. It’s my request to people of our Mangalore please help others who are in need (this is what we were taught in schools). leave aside the caste and creed humanity comes first (all the religion says it). Remember if this incident had happened to one of us guys?
one more think v support all this self-help groups (RSS/PFI/KFD/BD/VHP) and no one comes when in need. They only know to do politics as it’s all part of the game. At least know We should learn from such incidents.

Just last week, although there are other incidents of two wheeler have taken place, the incidence of 8 year old killed due to this two wheeler skidding, I had written openly, that it is utmost important to stop using two wheelers in Indian roads owing to Indian road conditions.
Of course some of you were against this idea. I know my own known friends have died with these tragic type of accidents and I dont even recommend to enemies of it use.
I have nothing more to say to these accidents, not even traffic, buses, trucks, passersby or road conditions, than the persons using them.
Of course, those who want to commit suicide with the "Russian Roulette", is upto each one's desire, cant stop that, can we?
