Mangalore, Nov 19: Recognizing talent and achievement is very important for continued success and what better way than an award to do so. The Prathibha Puraskar is one such award organized by The South Canara Government Officer's Co Operative Bank, Mangalore. The award aims at recognizing meritorious students of SSLC, PUC, Degree and BE examinations.


On Sunday Nov 19 over 80 students were awarded the Prathiba Puraskar for academic excellence.


Jayalakshmi K and Soumya Pai who bagged a distinction in B Sc and BE exams respectively were awarded by H M Bharathesh, District Sessions Judge, Mangalore while  M Maheshwar Rao, Deputy Commissioner, Mangalore awarded Anusha K and Shakil who passed with a  distinction in PUC. 

B Dayanand, Superintendent of Police, Mangalore did the honours for Tejeswini H and Swathi M Amin who secured a distinction in the SSLC examinations.
 
H M Bharetesh speaking to the gathering shared that such awards and encouragement are necessary for the betterment of students and parents play a very important role in the child's development especially in the area of academics.

Maheshwar Rao in his address told the  gathering that there is a lot of difference between parents of the past and the present. Unlike in the past where parents were unaware of  what their children were studying, today they  look at each step that their child takes giving way to success. He added that financial intuitions should also recognize talents in areas of sports and art. 



Dr Shivaprasad Rai, Home Guards Commandant, P R Pangalappa, co operative department official, Mangalore and K Prakash Chandra, SKGOK Bank President, Mangalore were also present for the award ceremony.
