Udupi, Nov 21: The second round of hearing into Edu encounter case began in the District Sessions Court her on Monday November 20.
However, some of the witnesses who were supposed to produce themselves before the court for the hearing did not turn up. Hence, the Sessions court judge K N Faneendra issued warrant to Edu residents Ramappa Poojary, his wife and children Prashanth, Sudhakar, Akshata and Harshala. Accordingly, the Karkala police would produce them before the court on Tuesday November 21.
Meanwhile the statements of a few other witnesses, Bhaskar Achar, Lakshmi and Srinivas Achar, residents of Tannir near Nadpalu village in Karkala and Chandrashekhar Poojary and Shivram Poojary of Kasanmakki were recorded by the court.
All of them stated that they had they had seen suspected Naxalite Yashodha in the house of Ramappa Poojary of Edu on November 16, 2006 evening. They also said that she had visited their village a couple of times earlier too. But never was she armed with guns or anything else. "She was saying about starting strong agitation and movement with regards to the Someshwar reserve forest issue," they added.
