Mangalore, Nov 21: Sahodara Vedike president M G Hegde said at a press meet on Tuesday that Dakshina Kannada District is the place which is influencing the world towards banking, medical and educational fields and the inflow of per capita income is increasing due to this development.

If politicians like K S Masood, State Minority commission chairman, label the district as Communally Disturbed Areas,  it will not only show the incapability of the leaders but also will bring bad reputation to the district which will be very difficult to erase.

The percentage of people involved in the communal riot is just a few who were uneducated and who belonged to socially and economically backward community, whereas the remaining segment of the society wanted peace and prosperity in the district.

"So such situations cannot call for the district being labelled a Communally Disturbed Area and allow the district to suffer, by the mistakes done by the politicians, rather we have to educate the uneducated and backward community who are unaware of the consequence," he added.

Sahodara Vedike wants the heads of all the religions to sit together and try to sort out this problem and make the district a better place to live in. Sahodara Vedike also wants to fight against the privatization of the Kadri Park.

Vedike vice presidents Manohar Mendon and Sushil Noronha, general secretary Dennis D'Silva, treasurer Roshan Prasad and secretary Asif were present in the press meet.
