Mangalore, Nov 22: Immaculate Conception Church has a significant place in the history of Mangalore diocese. The annals have recorded that Christians from Mulki region settled in Kinnigoli on their way back from Shrirangapattana from Tipu's captivity. A church was established in the year 1804 which was dedicated to the patronage of Mother Mary.
The parishioners of Kinnigoli church celebrated their annual parish feast on Wednesday November 22 with pomp. Fr Francis Serrao, rector of St Aloysius College offered the solemn Eucharistic celebration, Fr Francis Serrao, Kinnigoli parish priest Fr Patrick Rodrigues and several other priests from neighbouring parishes concelebrated the Eucharist.
A melodious choir under the baton of renowned musician Fr Valerian Mendonca needs a special mention. Hundreds of parishioners and devotees from far and wide partook in the Holy Mass.
