Puttur, Nov 22: The rural police have arrested a young man for trying to rape a dalit woman at Golipadav near Irde here.

The arrested has been identified as Kiran Kumar of Golipadav.  He is said to have tried to sexually assault a young woman belonging to dalit community at Golipadav.  The woman was on her way back home from beedi branch when the incident took place.

However, Kiran had immediately fled the place after some passersby noticed him trying to pull the dalit woman's hand.  The rural police have already produced him before the court.
