Mangalore, Nov 23: The newly-constructed lion’s abode at Pilikula Nisarga Dhama was inaugurated by in-charge minister for DK district Nagaraj Shetty on Wednesday.
Shetty released the lion and lioness into their new enclosure. Speaking on the occasion, he said that NRIs are stepping forward to contribute towards the cause of the district and its tourism. This will make the district a much sort after tourist destination.
MLA J Krishna Palemar who presided over the programme said that a sum of Rs 2 lac will be provided for an open air theatre in the cultural village near the biological park.
In the 350 acres of land in Pilukula a science centre, cultural village and lake have already been set up. A butterfly park will be constructed at a cost of about Rs 5 lac containing 100 species of butterflies.
