Puttur, Nov 23: Uppinangady police have arrested 6 persons with regard to kidnap and assault of a senior citizen at Maji Kudelu of Uruvalu near Uppinangady here. It is quite surprising that the son of the assaulted person is one of the arrested.

Aitappa Gowda, a resident of Maji Kudelu was kidnapped and later assaulted by a group of six persons.  He was walking by the roadside when he was kidnapped.  The group threw him by the roadside after assaulting him on a jeep at Shantinagar near Bajattur.
 
He was later admitted to the hospital.  A complaint was lodged with the Uppinangady police who had initiated enquiry into the case.  Accordingly, police arrested 6 persons including Aitappa's son Sunder Gowda.

The other arrested have been identified as Balakrishna Safalya, Suresh Moolya, Dinesh Perladka, Kuvechar and Nagesh Safalya.  They have already been produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody.
