Mangalore, Nov 23: The sports day proceedings of St Aloysius P U College kicked off on Thursday, November 23 here at the Gonzaga Stadium of the College. 

A march past by the students and lighting of the torch was held to mark the beginning of the sports day.

'Alnasium', a brand new gymnasium for the P U premises, was inaugurated on the occasion by t Joseph's Seminary (Inter Dioceasan) rector Fr Victor Machado, who was the chief guest. St Aloysius Institutions rector Fr Francis Serrao, blessed the building. 

The gymnasium is well-equipped with all kinds of facilities and equipments such as a multi-unit, dumb-bells, TV and music facilities for effective work-out etc. A couple of table tennis courts have also been installed in the building. A separate 'change room' for students has also been provided. 

The gymnasium project which took a year to complete was proposed and implemented by St Aloysius P U College, former principal, Fr Swebert D'Silva.

Principal, John D'Silva and dean Naveen Dias were also present on the occasion.
