Mangalore, Nov 23: A lorry was thrown into a gorge after being hit by a speeding private bus at Kulur near here on Thursday November 23 morning. The driver and cleaner of the lorry managed to escape unhurt in the accident.
A plywood-laden Eicher lorry which was on its way to Konaje from Baikampady collided with an express bus (National Travels) that was on its way to Udupi from the city on Thursday morning. As a result lorry turned turtle and rolled down into the nearby gorge which was filled with water.
However the lorry driver Devdas and cleaner Imtiaz managed to escape unhurt despite the ghastly nature of the accident. Traffic on the National Highway 17 was blocked for long owing to the accident. Traffic was diverted through Kulur-Kavoor and Lalbagh on either side.
