Bantwal, Nov 23: The police have arrested 3 persons and have taken them to custody for investigation with regard to the theft in 2 cellphone shops during curfew at B C Road in the last month.

The prime accused has been identified as Shankarnarayana. During the communal violence which was followed by curfew in the month of October, two mobile accessory shops were looted at B C Road. Though the police had registered a case in this regard, they were not able to nab anyone so far.

A person working with Shankarnarayana had gone to sell a cellphone to a shop at Melkar.  Having smelt a rat about this, the shop owner informed to the owners of two shops which had been looted. He also informed the police in this regard.

Having received a sure tip-off, the police arrested the person who had gone to the shop. During the initial enquiry he reveled that Shankarnarayana was responsible for the theft. Accordingly Shankarnarayana was arrested and produced before the court by police. The court has now remanded him to judicial custody.
