Mangalore, Nov 24: A total of 150 veterinary centres and 50 veterinary clinics across the state will be upgraded soon, said animal husbandry minister Revu Nayaka Belamagi who was in the city to participate in a district level progress review meet.
Addressing a press meet here on Thursday November 24 he said that the proposal to upgrade the veterinary institutions has been already sent to the government. An additional grant of Rs 7.45 crore has been sought and the proposal is being reviewed by the finance department, he added.
There is a demand for as many as 555 veterinary institutions in the state and proposal is being prepared to open clinics at 249 places for which the cost may come up to Rs 12.92 crore, he said.
District BJP president K Monappa Bhandary, animal husbandry department district deputy director Dr Narasimha Murthy, KMF general manager Kumaraswamy and corporator Mariamma Thomas were present at the meet.
