Mangalore, Nov 24: A two-day state-level workshop on 'Girl Child and Education' will be organised jointly by Mangalore University, Magu Madhura Kalike, District Education and Training Centre, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan and Deeds at CODP, Nantur here on Monday November 27.

A press release stated that discussions will be held on various issues like negligence of girl child, the status of girl child in the society, educational schemes for the girl child and other related topics.

Women and child welfare department commissioner A K Monappa will inaugurate the workshop. The programme will be presided over by Prof Surendra Rao of the department of history, Mangalore University. Dr Shantha Menon of Niyas will deliver the keynote address.

The valedictory function will be held on Tuesday November 28 at 3.30 pm. Social worker Octavia Albuquerque, zilla panchayat CEO A M Kunjappa and others are expected to participate, the release stated.
