Mangalore, Nov 25: A public grievances hearing meet was held here on Friday November 24, wherein Lokayukta vigilance director K L Anand Gowda chaired the meeting. 

Various disorders and practices followed in the Town Planning division of City Corporation were brought to the notice of the Lokayukta director.

K N Hegde of Citizen’s Forum highlighted on illegal structures, while Hanumanth Kamath of Nagarika Hitarakshana Vedike alleged that the subordinate officers in Mangalore City Corporation follow irregular practices and even settle cases without the Commissioner being aware of the same.

Building of commercial complexes in residential areas, permission for construction on disputed sites, structures which have violated fire safety norms, and many other complaints were put forth during the session.

On hearing the complaints, Gowda came down heavily on the officials.    

The commissioner and assistant TPO Manjunath however gave their assurance of addressing the issues and finding solutions.
