Mangalore, Nov 25: An attempt to rob a house by group of four persons was foiled by a senior citizen at Jeppu near here on Friday November 24 night.

The incident took place in Arya Nilaya at Jeppu.  Ashwath Shetty, a resident of Arya Nilaya had gone to view body building championship at Town Hall while his father had gone to Naravi.  Only his aged mother was in the house.

Taking advantage of this, four men entered their house asking drinking water.  They tied the woman and pushed cloth piece inside her mouth so that she could not shout for help. Thereafter they tried to steal valuables from the house.  But the woman managed to escape and shouted for help.

Sensing the danger, the foursome fled the place.  Though identity of the miscreants is not yet established, sources said that it could be the handiwork of some daily-wage workers who are residing in the same vicinity.

Pandeshwar police are investigating the case.
