Kundapur, Nov 25: At a press meet held at Koteshwar near here on Friday November 25, National Group C Postal Employees former zonal president Wilson alleged that the government is neglecting the interest of postal employees by stressing on modernization in the guise of privatization.

Post offices in rural areas are not able to render service owing to the government’s understanding with private agencies, to manage their private services through post. The privatization move has also deprived the postal employees appointed since 2004, of their retirement benefits, he said.

In view of computerizing the postal department, computers worth crores of rupees are dumped uselessly, owing to the unscientific thinking of the government that the postal employees themselves should be handed over the task, without appointing computer professionals for the posts.

At the press meet he also announced that the 17th All India National Group C Postal Employees’ convention will be held at Koteshwar from November 26 to 28, wherein problems faced by postal employees will be discussed. Postal employees from all over the country will participate in the convention, which is being held for the first time in the state. A report will then be submitted to the central unit, to draw the attention of the government, he said.
