Moodbidri, Nov 25: It was a great day for the present and old students of Adarsh High School at Taccode near here as their ‘alma mater’ completed 25 successful years of imparting education to local masses on Saturday November 25.
Students who have passed out from this temple of knowledge have today carved out a niche for themselves in various fields. Most of them are contributing their best in building up a better and healthy society. Perhaps River Phalguni flows with waters of knowledge which has made Taccode into a hamlet of literature, culture and knowledge.
Joy could well be seen on the faces of the gathered as Bishop Aloysius Paul D’Souza of Mangalore delivered his presidential speech and hailed the institution’s commitment towards imparting education to rural students.
Former chief minister Veerappa Moily was the chief guest on the occasion. In his address he said that the memories of the inaugural function of the Adarsh High School are still vivid in his mind and he would like to be present when the school turns golden.
District in-charge minister Nagaraj Shetty, MLAMinister Nagaraja Shetty said, MLA Abhayachandra Jain, former MLA Amarnath Shetty, MPCC member Felix D’Souza, Sr Philomena Cardoza, principal of Jyoti Nivas College Bangalore, Sucharita Shetty Hosabettu GP president Flavia Mendes were also present on the dais.
School correspondent Fr Hilary Lobo honoured the donors. Former correspondents of the school Fr Stany B Lobo, Fr Henry Sequeira, and Fr Jerald D’Souza were also honoured on the occasion.
Earlier Silver Jubilee memorial projects Computer Lab and new library were inaugurated by the guests. A souvenir to mark the occasion too was released while an education fund was launched during the function. Headmaster of the school Valerian Moras welcomed the gathering.
