Muslims who 'converted' will get ration cards: Bajrang Dal

Agra, Dec 9 (IANS): A Bajrang Dal leader said Tuesday that all the 300 poor Muslims who he said had embraced Hinduism here will be given ration cards they badly lacked.

Amid claims by one of the 300 that they were forced to give up Islam, Bajrang Dal's Ajju Chauhan said everyone in the group would be now taught Hindu rituals.
The Bajrang Dal organised the conversion ceremony Monday.

Chauhan, the group's co-convener, said Tuesday that all those who converted to Hinduism would be "Sanskritised". They would be registered as voters and would get ration cards.

He said the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS), to which the Bajrang Dal is allied, had been working "hard for three months to persuade them to convert to Hinduism".
The 300 members of some 60 Muslim families who reportedly embraced Hinduism Monday evening live in a slum on the outskirts of the Taj city -- and are miserably poor.

Most of them had lived near Madhu Nagar on Gwalior Road for 17 long years after migrating either from West Bengal or Bangladesh.

Agra's Muslim leaders mostly declined to comment on the episode.
But one Muslim scholar who did not want to be quoted by name alleged that those who converted were not Muslims.

"It is true that they are all from outside Agra, perhaps from Bangladesh, and had been living here illegally as they have no voter, Adhaar or ration cards," he said.
Munira, one of the 300, alleged they were lured to the event on the promise of giving them a plot of land and ration cards.

"We were taken to a place where a fire ceremony was on," Munira told ABP news channel. "We were made to sit there. We became panicky. We were told to pray to Hindu gods. We did whatever they told us...

"But now we are again reading the Holy Quran and our family members offered namaz today," he added.

Agra's Senior Superintendent of Police Shalabh Mathur said no complaint had been registered regarding the event. "We will take action if there is a complaint."
A Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader, Premendra Jain, wondered if Bangladeshis could be allowed to live in India if they give up Islam.

"We have been demanding the expulsion of all Bangladeshis living illegally in India," Jain told IANS.

"Now these people have been converted to Hinduism. Does it mean all those staying in India illegally will be allowed to stay here if they convert?"

Are we going towards theocratic State ? One person asks people to go to Pakistan if they do not vote for Modi. Another Sadhwi makes most of Indians as illegitimate if we do not accept ourselves as children of Ram. The little educated and experienced minister says Gita should become National Book. Our PM who shouted Sabka Vikas now silently encouraging all these elements. Now this forced and allured conversion further moves them to insecure and fear. I know that it is not easy to break secular fabric of this country ,but these elements are certainly trying for it.I have a strong hope on Indian democratic System that people do not tolerate religious fanaticism. Soon after Babri Masjid demolished bjp lost power in many states ,the majority people did not appreciate it.Our constitution is strongly based on our culture and social system. The great man behind Constitution Dr.Ambedkar was well aware of evil designs of fascists forces like RSS.We will not be wondered if these elements asks us to alter the constitution itself. But again every citizens including this ultra fantasist should think about India ,,where are we moving ? what civilization we wanted to show to rest of world ? Do we need to live with respect and dignity ?De we wanted to keep the Nation strong ?

Within any sect of Christianity there is no such caste discrimination. The word Dalit Christian only indicates a Dalit Hindu who has converted to Christianity. Within the church every Christian is equal and no one is referred to as a 'Dalit Christian'. In civil life the name Dalit Christian is used because it entitles them to special grants from the government as certain narrow minded individuals in the Society (not the Church or Parish) within which they live continue to discriminate/persecute them (though it is to a much lesser degree) even after conversion.

Many Dalits or backward caste have converted to Christianity, unable to bear social and economical discrimination.
They are saved from social discrimination.

Agreed there is discrimination but in India in Christianity one sees it at the level of narrow minded individuals and it's impact is felt or noticed to a much, much lesser extent as when compared to Hindu Society where it is so very widespread and it's impact is felt and noticed in almost every home and family on an every day basis. Even to the extent of making choice of spouses caste plays a critical role in Hindu Society.

You seem to be wrong there. The Britishers only exploited the Hindu practice of the caste system to their maximum advantage to divide and rule India. The practice of the caste system was a tradition prevalent in Hindu society since long, long ago even before the arrival of the foreigners according to my knowledge about it.
Nobody is saying that the Hindu holy books teach about the caste system. We know it does not.

lakhs of inter caste marriages are happening in hindu society from the past two decades.

present generation hindus dont care a damn for caste system as our relgious identity is more important for us than the caste.

infact we will be very happy if caste system declines as fast as possible.caste system will be non existent in hindu society in next 2 decades.

and for your information, those man made discrimination in hindu society created by some to safeguard thier selfish interests were severly opposed by hindus itself.

What 'tactics' are you referring to ? Be specific and dont leave room for speculation. If you are referring to 'tactics' of allurement you need to know that they neither have the blessing or the approval of the Church be it any sect in India in Christian Society.
These allurement tactics could be from a certain minority group of rogue/communal elements within, who if exposed will be criticized and stopped by both the Church administration and Christians in general.
Genuine missionary work done by Christians is aimed purely at social upliftment of the poor and deprived communities or for contributing to the field of Education and Health care.

However, I agree that Hindu Society has changed for the better and continues to change with regard to the caste system and that is a refreshingly welcome sign. There is still a long way to go though. What troubles me is when hardline communal elements try to take Society back in time with their communal agenda.

Conversion to Hinduism? Which cast of Hinduism did they join . I would recommend any one who converts to Hinduism should be given brahman cast . Because there is no such law called only a person born to brahman will be brahman. Will Hindu priests encourage this idea? Moreover make conversion and propagation of religion a free thing in India . Let any one covert to whichever religion he wishes to . Let RSS and VHP initiate and promote this idea. People will study religions and join . Then india will be a country of free thinkers and will be a nice country to live in . I really encourage this conversion initiative . I even support giving ration cards to converts but allow any one to propagate and any one to convert . Religious leaders encourage this idea if you are sincere.

WE NEED A STRONG ANTI CONVERSION LAW!!! beat the s##t out of those who try to convert you, by giving alms!! and lock them up firmly behind bars for life! Let them preach their faith and religion to the walls of jails!

Correction to your comment : We need Anti FORCED/ALLURED conversion law because people should be allowed to convert if it is out of their own genuine free will.

Now many Bangladeshis will know how to get ration cards!
Congress and BJP/Bajrang Dal, accuse each other, but in a way both are same.
One will pamper for vote, the other one will pamper for Caste change!

Heavens does not going to fall even if 300 muslims coverts to Hinduism. This is a bad precedent. One should not be converted by luring any perks and the excercise have no sanctity. Then what is the point in discussing the issue of 'conversion' the term always given way for discontent amongst various people from time to time.Let Hindus be a good hindus and a muslim good muslim and a chiristian a good christian only.NGOs,social organisations should address the issue of poverty only and not the religion. If BD addresses this issue for only poor Hindus is also a welcome move.India is a vast country and there is dearth of poors amongst Hindus.

Bajrang dal group stands for creating unwanted, annoyed, anti religious, crimes, attack on women and list go on. The leaders of this kind of group are jobless. They want Hindu and Muslims should not be live as known to each other, they 100% doesn't know what religious books say. They are trying to spoil others life who are on the right path. Giving hate speeches become day to day activities for them.
I am sure such groups or individual's end has a very horrible end.

Understanding his own religion and being faithful to own religion ?
Mr Ramesh Mangalore, please explain why a Dalit Hindu should love his religion which has sucked his blood since last 4000 years only on the basis of his birth ?
