Mangalore, Nov 27: The valedictory of the three-day Sangeethotsava 2006 organised Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Sangeetha Parishat - Mangalore (R) and Mangalore University at Ravindra Kala Bhavan at University College was held here on Sunday November 26.

Karnataka Bank chairman Ananthakrishna was the guest of honour while Sangeetha Parishat honorary president C R Ballal presided. Veteran mrudangam artiste T K Murthy was honoured with the prestigious 'Sangeetha Samrat' award.

The Suvasini Hegde Young Talent award and the T R Krishnan Young Talent award were presented to Dilip K J and Usha H respectively by Ananthakrisha.

The Sulochana R Ballal Best Young Artist award was conferred on Krishna Pavan Kumar G N by Krishna Gana Sabha, Chennai president Nalli Kuppuswami Chettiyar.

Corporation Bank manager M Narendra distributed certificates to the participants of a music workshop which had been conducted by Prarthana Rao.

Senior critic G T Narayana Rao and senior music teachers Sooralu S Parameshwara Bhat and Kamala Pattabhiraman were felicitated on the occasion.

Among those present were well-known music critic Ishwarayya, MLC Ganesh Karnik and Parishat secretary Nithyananda Rao.
