Bengaluru: Padmapriya death - Court orders COD to re-investigate role of Atul Rao

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Dec 19: The court here, which has been hearing the case of disappearance and suicide of Padmapriya, wife of the then Udupi MLA, Raghupati Bhat, has ordered COD police to re-investigate role of Atul Rao, accused in the case, relating to some of the complaints filed against him.

Atul Rao had been booked under various sections relating to illicit relationship, abetting of suicde, abduction, fraud, using fake documents etc in the above case. But the COD police had omitted to include allegations relating to illicit relationship, abduction, and abetting suicide when filing charge sheet. Raghupati Bhat had approached the court seeking directions to investigate the case from all these angles. The state high court, after examining the contentions, had ordered the third additional court here to examine Atul Rao's involvement from the angle of these allegations also.

Pradeep Kumar, advocate for the petitioner, informed that judge of the third additional court here, Suneeta, had on Dacember 6 this year, ordered COD to include these aspects in the charge sheet and investigate these complaints before December 26.

Atul Rao, childhood friend of Raghupati Bhat, had later been involved with financial dealings of Bhat and also overseen renovation of Bhat's house. However, after Padmapriya disappeared from her house here all of a sudden, and the role of Atul Rao in the case came to light, relationship between the two friends soured, particularly because Atul had kept his best friend in he dark about the developments leading to the disappearance of Bhat's wife.

He was caught with a callgirl in a hotel. He may be good outside but he does not seem to be good to his family.Investigating further is not a crime but Bhat is not suitable to hold any public office as he is caught in far too many controversies.Such persons should be kept away by political parties

    Dear Dr. Kamath,
If marriage didn't work well, I don't know whether it is fact or not, divorce would have been most appropriate step, legally and morally, in give circumstances.
Now marriage problems or political rivalry within the family come up, or linking other issues, it will further rise to suspicion!

we shouldn't get into personal details of marriage etc! gossipping is bad... see, there is a marriage issue reported in Pinki didi and vadra marriage too! ..God knows if we shld trust it!.. But the deaths in his family are suspicious and need to be interrogated!..
mostly many politicians in south canara have lost their kids in accidnrts, wives, or close ones in family!.. that is THEIR KARMA!!.. politicising is not good!..

I have only pressed for enquiry in Shashi taroor case, cos of "twitter war" between Paki Journo and Sunanda, a day before! she threatened to open up pandora's box of fixing, ISI, cricket, IPL betting and Pak's murky underbelly and mehra tarar's liason with her husband!.... Thats why I am interested, who eliminated her..! if it was some love triangle gone wrong, I wouldnt care much cos, its their life and even Sunanda married a divorcee only..so he has habit of ditchign women! getting my point?

If there is some truth in what you say about mysterious deaths of Vadra family members.., why Modi govt. is not initiating any investigation??? Are we to believe there is some understanding between Modi and Sonia...?? Even regarding Vadra land deals we have not heard anything from Rajastan and Haryana Govt's???. Do we have to wait till next elections???

I heard a case in which the culprit himself filed a case in police station regarding a person he murdered...Just to avoid suspicion...case took long time until it found that the murderer was the same person who lodged the complaint...And the funny thing was he was repeatedly visiting police station to find out the progress of the case and advising police to give justice to his dear one.....
Hope any of these case doesn't belong to that category...

    Let truth prevail. Only truth!
Let the culprit be brought to the books, whoever may be, whichever party he may belong to, ultimately he is a KILLER. Organized KILLER.
Killer of a Mother, a Daughter, a Sister, a Neighbor and somebody's wife!
Criminality may have grown in our region, but overall people are peace lovers, justice seekers. Region will bounce back and will again become peaceful region.

    Satish JM,

Did you hear the mysterious disappearance of PP,foul circumstance of her death, the graphic false narration of her dead body came to her native place for cremation(then in charge Minister had narrated),the circumstance of arrest of Atul and 3-4 politician's (udupi based)role in protecting RB makes every one disappointed in finding the reason for her death. The law did not take it's course on it's own henceforth, reinvestigation of this case is very important in a wider base.

    Ismail Bhai,
Its quite obvious that 'every one' gets disappointed when the law did not take its course as they wish. Now if you want RB's role to be investigated, which law you would like be enforsed? You trust the law only when the people of your choice are booked?
