New Delhi, Dec 19 (IANS): A 55-year-old Delhi Police sub-inspector was crushed to death by a speeding truck Thursday night in the capital's Alipur area, police said Friday.
Hazarilal, who was deputed at west Delhi's Bhalswa Dairy police station, was riding his motorbike to reach Narela when he was hit by the truck Thursday at around 10 p.m. in Alipur. He was on duty when the accident occurred.
"The truck driver was arrested and the vehicle impounded a few minutes after the incident," Deputy Commissioner of Police N. Gnana Sambandan told IANS.
The errant driver identified as Rajat Kumar, 19, was heading towards Himachal Pradesh from Delhi.
Hazarilal, who was inducted in the Delhi Police in 1977, is from Haryana's Sonepat town. His family resides in his native village but he lived in the residential quarters of the Bhalswa Dairy police station.
