Fog disrupts train service in Delhi

New Delhi, Dec 19 (IANS): Dense fog in the national capital Friday morning delayed nearly 90 trains, an official said.

The Northern Railway said 63 trains coming to Delhi and 27 leaving the national capital were rescheduled due to fog. An official said no train was cancelled.

The fog also hit flights but marginally. Two departures were delayed by more than 15 minutes but no flight was diverted or cancelled, an official at the capital's IGI airport said.

Visibility in Delhi at 8.30 a.m. was 200 meters, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

The Met Office has forecast that the day will be partly cloudy.

"There was fog in the morning and the day will be partly cloudy. The maximum temperature is likely to hover around 18 degrees Celsius," said an IMD official.

The day's minimum temperature settled a notch below the season's average at 7.4 degrees Celsius.

Humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 89 percent.

Thursday was similar with the maximum temperature settling five notches below the season's average at 17.6 degrees Celsius, while the minimum was 7.4 degrees Celsius, slightly below the season's average.
