Sydney, Dec 7: It is a well-known fact that Mangaloreans can be found in almost every continent, maybe even every country of the world.

Wherever they go, they prove their mettle and get recognized for their worth. More than all, they keep their identity and always feel proud to call themselves 'Mangaloreans'.

In the same spirit, more than a hundred Mangaloreans settled in Sydney met recently and decided to form an Association of their own.

The perfect backdrop for this picnic style meeting was the Sydney Olympic site Bicentennial Park.  Stanley D’Cruz who led a sustained campaign for the formation of this association also convened this meeting.

The meeting was compered by Ryan Sequeira.  Several speakers spoke and they included Stanley D’Cruz, Rudy Sequeira, Rohan Saldanha, Ryan Sequeira, Joyce Lobo and George Pinto. Many other participants presented their views.

Rudy Sequeira played a significant role in the formation of the working committee, which is aimed at overseeing the formation of  ‘The Mangalorean Catholic Association of Sydney Inc.’

The working committee has as its members Ryan Sequeira, Jamila Torpy, Hubert Castelino, Stanley D’Cruz, George Pinto, Joyce Lobo, Marcel Rodrigues, Prescilla Dennis, Rohan Saldanha, Ivan Mendonsa, Raymond D’Souza, Martin Lobo and Eric D’Silva.

For the Mangalorean community this was a history-making event and more news of future actities can be read on this website.
