Rons Bantwal for Daijiworld News Network – Mumbai (SS)

Mumbai, Dec 8: The annual Koti Chennayya Sports Meet – 2006 was held at the University Stadium, Marine Lines here recently. 

Former Karnataka minister Vasanth Salian was present as the chief guest and international-level weightlifter Lokesh Mendon was the guest of honour. Association president Jaya C Suvarna hoisted the flag.

National-level football player Shekhar Bangera, Gujarat Billawar Association president Mohan C Poojary, Tejpal Salian, National Bhandary Association president Naveenchandra Bhandekar, vice-president Vasudev Kotian, Y Nagesh and M B Kukkian, were present on the dais.

Honorary chief secretary Nithyananda Kotian welcomed.  Joint secretary Dharmesh Salian compered the inaugural programme.

Snehal Amin and Rajesh Bangera carried the sports torch from Bharat Bank at Modi Street to the stadium.

Various events were held for children from the age group of 5 years and even for the elderly.  Team championship and 8 individual championships were held on the occasion.

Fourteen committees of Billawa Associations, seven Samanvaya committees, management and staff of Bharat Co-operative Bank, office-bearers and members of the educational institutions sponsored by the association, members of Pune and Baroda Billawa associations, took part in the march past.
