Mangaluru: Bus runs amok near Mallikatta, hits 8 vehicles, injures three

Mangaluru, Dec 28: Three persons were injured after a bus ran amok and hit eigth vehicles near Mallikatta here on Sunday December 28.

The bus was plying from Adyar to State Bank via Mallkatte. In between Mallikatta and Nanthoor, the bus driver lost control and hit a bike.

After hititng the bike, the bus rammed into three other two-wheelers and four cars, injuring three persons in the process.

The injured were admitted to a private hospital. One of them is said to be serious.

Rash driving and speeding by the bus driver reportedly caused the accident.

The bus driver fled from the spot soon after the accident.

Kadri traffic police arrived at the spot.

    The reckless driving specially city buses is seen as an challenge to Traffic police department. It look likes the city local buses , drivers and owners are above law.
    No traffic rules are followed.
    Over crowded buses are common in most buses during peak hours.
    Many accidents can be stopped if these bus a, drivers are penalised and traffic departments open their eyes and work without any fear and favouring owners.

    If licence cancelled there are many ways to get a new licence - are you not aware that you are living in a corrupt licence raj?

    Best way could be heavy vehicle drivers should have minimum 10 years experience and that they should undergo a short course how to respect traffic rules and human values.

    All buses should be installed with speed governors to max speed to 50kmph. Along with that, all type of sound horns should be banned. Not only in buses but all the vehicles.
    People just use sound horns in Mangalore for no reason. Banning them would keep our city noise free and will keep our mind healthy.

    Reckless driving is very common a city like Mangaluru by heavy vehicles, light motor vehicles, autos including two wheelers. It is a difficult task for children and elderly people to walk & cross the roads safely!. Vehicles population is increasing day by day resulting in accidents, loss of life & multiple injuries to people. Frequent checking by the Traffic Police whether these bus drivers are under the influence of alcohol while on duty is required & violators to be punished. Within the City Limits Mini buses may be introduced with Sector wise bus stands.

    Citizen please don't board this bus KA 20 D 2944, Route no. 30B, i believe enough buses operates in this route. automatically this bus service will be cancelled.

    Respected RTO, please publish the photo in local newspaper of driver and the bus owner. and instruct the public not use this bus service.

    Does anybody care??? No..d bus owner l pay 5k in d station n tk d seized bus to garage n start d trip agn.no case no crap.. I was hit by a bus coming in d wrong side in bejai..d bus owners came to kadri statn n d info was revealed dat conductor was driving..din hv a license.. Police told me to avoid d headaches of d court n settle..gave me 5 k n sent me home..bt wer grilling d owners..half n hr latr d bus was not der..money power is used,abused n misused in mlore...nobody cares..nobody..

    Dear All,
    You guys of Mangalore .. aren't you sick, disgusted and tired reading the same old crap news of accidents and casualties and what not going on within your coastal hometown and yet you adopt a CARE-A-DAMN-ATTITUDE and you cannot do anything to get a solution. It is understood it is beyond your capacity to do anything to stop these jerk drivers from hitting cars, snuffing out precious lives and incapacitating (paralyzing) loss of legs and limbs of injured victims and what not because you do not have the initiative to do so. There is an innovative idea .. just bring these so-called rough and rowdy bus drivers to Bombay ... and they will be dealt with ''tactfully'' and ''professionally''. This is an open advise for all fellow Mangaloreans who are so pathetic and submissive and even considering themselves that they CANNOT DO anything to curb this ruckus., just because these drivers are thick-skinned and there is a lack of interest in the people to get themselves committed to curb this insane behavior, WHERE THERE IS A WILL THERE IS A WAY. There is absolutely no sense of awareness and nobody has the WILL to do anything. You must be surprised that Bombay being a busy metropolis hardly has any casualties on its roads ... not because it has multiple transport options but the reason being simple .. people care here NOT like Mangalore. Give it a try ... and these same drivers will come back ''reformed''

    Please stop all private city buses and replace them with ksrtc city buses, they are causing a big nuisance on Mangalore roads. They are so inconvenient to travel especially for old people and ladies. Drivers are very rash and conductors are very rude, when students ask for 'c' they literally abuse. Whereas in ksrtc buses, its a lot spacious to travel and very travel friendly buses.

    In mangalore we need a good Traffic inspector like the one Kerala had.

    The district authorities have turned a blind eye on speeding. It should impose strict speed limits within the city and highways to 20 kms out. Strict measures on lane discipline also should be implemented. when so many lives are sacrificed to the road accidents, why not the BD, KFD and PFs take up this issue and protest?
