Mangaluru, Jan 2: Project director of National Highways Authority of India, Z S Vijay Kumar, said that works relating to the over bridge at Bykmapady across national highway 66 will be completed by March 15, while the one across national highway 75 by February 15.
He gave this information at a meeting of departmental officials held by MP, Nalin Kumar Kateel, relating to problems in national highways, at the Circuit House in the city on Thursday January 1.
The officer said that launching of the concrete works, and works relating to the connecting road for Bykampady over bridge are under progress. He also revealed that the work on bridge at B C Road is in the final stage.
The MP was also informed that a project involving investment of Rs 23 crore has been drawn up for developing service road between NITK Suratkal and B C Road on national highway 66.
Bantwal municipal councillors, Govind Prabhu and Devadas Shetty, told the MP that ten buildings in B C Road, which have been acquired long back and compensation was disbursed, are yet to be vacated for constructing service road. The project director said that arrangements will be made to widen the service road there shortly by taking over these buildings with police assistance.
He further said that the road between B C Road and Charmadi, which is 5.5 metre wide now, will be widened to 10 metres. 'Project has been prepared, and tender process will be completed soon,' he revealed. He also said that the road between Kulshekar and Moodbidri will be widened to 45 metres up to Moodbidri, and that from there onwards, its width will be 30 metres.
Nalin Kumar asked the official to ensure that traffic on national highway 66 and 75 moves smoothly without any hiccups.
National Highways Authority of India executive engineer, C Nataraj, was present.
