Mangaluru, Jan 2: Project director of National Highways Authority of India, Z S Vijay Kumar, said that works relating to the over bridge at Bykmapady across national highway 66 will be completed by March 15, while the one across national highway 75 by February 15.

He gave this information at a meeting of departmental officials held by MP, Nalin Kumar Kateel, relating to problems in national highways, at the Circuit House in the city on Thursday January 1.

The officer said that launching of the concrete works, and works relating to the connecting road for Bykampady over bridge are under progress. He also revealed that the work on bridge at B C Road is in the final stage.

The MP was also informed that a project involving investment of Rs 23 crore has been drawn up for developing service road between NITK Suratkal and B C Road on national highway 66.

Bantwal municipal councillors, Govind Prabhu and Devadas Shetty, told the MP that ten buildings in B C Road, which have been acquired long back and compensation was disbursed, are yet to be vacated for constructing service road. The project director said that arrangements will be made to widen the service road there shortly by taking over these buildings with police assistance.

He further said that the road between B C Road and Charmadi, which is 5.5 metre wide now, will be widened to 10 metres. 'Project has been prepared, and tender process will be completed soon,' he revealed. He also said that the road between Kulshekar and Moodbidri will be widened to 45 metres up to Moodbidri, and that from there onwards, its width will be 30 metres.

Nalin Kumar asked the official to ensure that traffic on national highway 66 and 75 moves smoothly without any hiccups.

National Highways Authority of India executive engineer, C Nataraj, was present.

Out of one rupee sanctioned by the government, 20 paise invested in to the roads...balance 80 paise...sir you imagine where it will go..Before awarding the contract, they decide who will get how much...This was hinted by none other than Rahul Gandhi.
The feeders, The eaters and we Onlookers know all the Gotala.....! Now Nithin Ghadkari...again another corrupt minister is in the helm. No proper system in place for tendering....
Look at the roads in Europe, USA and middle east..! One of the best...We can do the same way...but the problem is our thirst...!Till the politician's thirst and middle men thirst quenches...roads will never have that quality....! Look at the bridges and highway from Mangalore to Udupi...all sub-standard work and its pending since Jaganmohan Reddy arrested and jailed many years ago........

Surthkal junction is a foolishly designed one...The Bridge is deliberately wrongly positioned..(.All know the Reason )....Warning Boards are not Put up despite personally talking to the Elected Reps....Accidents have taken place and near misses take place everyday....Crossing the Road is a big dangerous task..
    Mera Surathkal Mahaan !!!
Open the Bridge for Two way traffic immediately and this will certainly ease traffic congestion there..

This will never happen soon. It might take another 5/10 years to complete . I see the roads from talapady to kallapu. Gosh its like iam doing some kind of dirt race . Every part of my car was screwed up. Either they should do one way before monsoon or make some good arrangements . They should appoint supervisor for each section and give them dead line rather that depending on few by this way few civil engineers who are looking for job will get a job and also progress will be go high .

I wish that the Highway Authority first Covers the few Potholes over the Kulur Bridge which results in Traffic Jams Daily...(I don't think they require Crores for that !!)
Numerous Ambulances pass by daily..God save them.
Next they must mark the Lanes as that would make driving safer.
Also Warning Boards displayed prominently.(warning of Diversions,Approaching Traffic on One way e.g Surathkal Junction).
Lets make driving Safer and less Stressful..

we are tired of all these assurances. It will be great if you could complete the project with in specified time. Don't get in to these s. We heard many and see all those promises broken. please... It's only we know the pain because of these messy infrastructure, especially the high way roads in and around Mangalore. We lost so many lives also due to this. Now a director coming and declaring fresh time lines... jokes of the decade....

I think the following measures are must.
1.The Shiradi stretch must be of concrete
2.Udupi Mangalore highway must be double line and a finest.
3.There must be under passes at each places like Kapu, Uchila and Padubidri etc.
4.The travel between Bangalore and Mangalore & Udupi & Mumbai must be like somewhere in Zurich.

This is good. Even the 4 laning of highway between from Kundapur and Talapady is happening in great speedT the previous UPA government did a complete mess. They could not complete the project even after 5 years in spite of Oscar Fernandez becoming the road and transport minister. He was busy cutting ribbons and posing for photos.

This is good news of new year.
In Mangalore Moodbidre section, Road widening was badly needed.
But crooked roads of bullock cart era, should be straightened, wherever possible, to save time and avoid accidents.
