New Delhi, Dec 13: Dense fog led to 25 flights being delayed in the national capital early today.
"Visibility levels touched extremely low levels in the early hours. This led to 25 flights being delayed," a spokesperson of the Airports Authority of India said.
Though the CAT III systems were put in force immediately, only a few aircraft equipped with the system could proceed on time, he added.
At the same time several flights scheduled to arrive here were also delayed.
The visibility levels, however, improved by 1000 hrs to more than 1000 RVR (the unit used to measure visibility levels), leading to resumption of normal flight operations, the spokesperson said.
This is the second day in succession flights were delayed due to fog.
The spokesperson said though the airport is equipped with CAT III systems to counter fog, very few airlines have the system installed in their aircraft.
