MAC Media Release

Missisauga, Dec 14: The Mangalorean Association of Canada (MAC) held its Family Christmas Tree on December 10, 2006 at the Tomken Twin Arena, Mississauga. 

The evening commenced with a welcome from the President of MAC and the lighting up of the Christmas tree.  Alisha D’Mello, the young compere, gave a brief description of the significance of the Christmas tree and thanked the sponsors of the evening.  

The sponsors were Frank Serrao of Dixie Toyota, Ronald Mathias of Remax Realty Specialist Inc., Maxim Mendes of Max Mendes Group, Tom Varughese of Admiral Travels & Tours Inc., Martin Menezes of BMO Financial Group and Flavian Pinto of Clarica.

Children ranging from 4 years to 12 years performed a Christmas play, “The Innkeeper and his Wife”, in the form of a story narrated by the innkeeper and his wife about the Event that took place 2000 years ago. With authentic props and costumes and amazing sound effects, every single actor and actress worked with dedication. 

The play was accompanied by a youth choir who sang Christmas carols and songs'. Another young compere Jason D’Souza introduced the  play adn the cast.

To the tune of “Santa Claus is coming to Town”, Santa Claus swept in distributing handfuls of candy, amidst shouts of joy and wonder from the children and expectations of presents.  Compere Leon Lobo took charge of the proceedings.
 
Children were called individually to receive their presents from him.  Nick, the magician was specially requested to entertain the children with magic tricks and enthrall the kids and adults alike.  As active participants, the children got to demonstrate their skills at magic with expert guidance from the magician.

Aloysius D’Souza of Konkan Delite catered a meal that was appreciated by all.  The evening ended with a Vote of Thanks to all participants of the evening as well as the organizers of the event.
