Bengaluru: NSUI state president commits suicide

Bengaluru, Jan 7: State president of National Students Union of India (NSUI), S V Siddaveer Veeranna Gowda (28), committed suicide at his home in Kalyan Nagar, Chandra Lay Out here on Tuesday January 6. Siddaveer, who hailed from Kanakapura near here, was very active in NSUI, a wing of Congress party. He had consumed poison and become seriously ill thereafter.

It is gathered that Siddaveer had called his friend, Praveen, on the night of January 2, to inform him that he had decided to end life. He told his friend that no one should try to save his life. Still, Praveen had rushed to the home of Siddaveer and admitted him into a hospital, where his condition continued to be serious, Chandra Layout police said.

Siddaveer was holding MA and LLB degrees. His father is a panchayat member in Kanakapura. Family sources said that Siddaveer had no health issues, and he was financially sound too. In a suicide note left behind, he said no one was responsible for his decision to commit suicide.

Chandra Layout police have registered a case of unnatural death.
