Mangalore, Dec 19: Jana Jagruti Vedike organized a vehicle rally to create awareness about the demerits of drugs and alcohol in the city on Tuesday December 19 morning.  Stickers depicting a message in this regard too were released on the occasion.

Vinay Hegde, president of Nitte Group of Educational Institutions flagged off the rally at Ladyhill Circle while B M Farooq, proprietor of Fiza Developers and Inter-trade Pvt Ltd from Bangalore released the stickers.

The rally was held from Ladyhill Circle to DC's office.  The forum also submitted a memorandum demanding the administration to vacate illegally-run liquor shops which have been a menace in MCC and Ullal town council limits.  They Forum also demanded to vacate all shops which sell certain products which are injurious to the health of the students from the school vicinity.

Deputy commissoner Maheshwar Rao, former president of Kannada Sahitya Parishat Harikrishna Punaroor, well-known orthopaedician Dr Shantaram Shetty, Vasant Salian, president of district chapter of Jana Jagruti Vedike, MUDA former president Suresh Ballal, DCC vice-president Ivan D'Souza, KPCC member U T Khadar, Sumit Melroy Karkada, president, All College Students' Union, Nemiraj Shetty, president of All College Students' Association were also present on the occasion.
