Mangalore, Dec 21: District-level office bearers of Samajwadi Party led by former chief minister S Bangarappa in the state have threatened to quit the party if they are continuously neglected.

Speaking at a press conference held here on Thursday December 21 morning, SP district secretary Anwar Rico said that district president M Mohan and district-in-charge D R Raju have been sidelining them.  "We have worked selflessly with Bangarappa to give a base to SP in the district.  Even when Bangarappa changed parties, we stayed with him, because we knew that he was the true leader.  But recent happenings in the district unit of the party are not at all good.  Many of us have been sidelined in order to finish our political career," he alleged.

He further said that they are not even invited for party meetings for the last 6 months.  "Moreover even at the party office, we are looked after as if we are untouchables.  The only reason we perceive behind this is jealousy," he added.

He also complained that despite several appeals to senior leaders at the state-level there have been no changes.  "So we have decided to resign from primary membership of Samajwadi Party," said he.

The persons who have threatened to resign are M Anwar Rico, district secretary Mohan Pilley, treasurer N P Pushparaj, executive member Bava Katipalla, SC ST wing president Ramesh Kavoor, minority wing president M C Abbas, youth wing president M Asif, executive members Abubakkar, Chandrashekhar and Prabhakar Bantwal.  They have also claimed that more than 250 activists too are with them in this decision.
