Agency report
Mumbai, Dec 22: Mohammed Muslim Niyat Shaikh, a key witness in the hit-and-run case involving leading Bollywood actor Salman Khan turned hostile at the trial court. Shaikh said that he did not notice the man driving the car as he was injured in the leg and was immediately surrounded by passersby.
It should be noted that Shaikh had earlier alleged in his police statement that he had seen the actor getting down from the driver's seat after the accident. As he disowned a crucial portion of his earlier statement, the prosecution immediately declared him hostile.
The prosecution would examine another witness who was also injured in the mishap on January 3rd 2007.
As you might know, one person was killed and four injured when Salman's Toyota Land Cruiser rammed into a bakery in suburban Bandra, northwest Mumbai, on September 28, 2002.
