Mangaluru: Window shade snaps - painter falls to death

Mangaluru, Jan 17: A person who was standing on the shade of a window for painting work died after the shade suddenly buckled and snapped under his weight, and he fell down from second floor. The accident occurred at Saptagiri apartments complex near highway at Bappanadu Mulky on Friday January 16.

The deceased has been identified as Venkatesh (35), a resident of Venkataramana Colony in Tadambail, Suratkal.

It is gathered that the painting work of the complex was given to a person named Ratnoji on contract basis. A group of four painters had been working in the building since about a month, it is gathered.

Venkatesh was taken to a hospital in Mangaluru immediately after his fatal fall. However, he did not survive long enough to undertake surgery and other procedures on him, because of the gravity of a wound he suffered to his neck.

A case stands registered against office bearers of the apartments complex, and painting contractor, Ratnoji, relating to the incident.
