Puttur, Jan 19: In a case reported from Arla in Konalu village near Nelyady in the taluk, a man, who was in a drunken state, allegedly stabbed his son-in-law to death with a knife. The incident occurred on Sunday January 18 evening.

The deceased has been identified as Bose George (35), a resident of Pulinditta, Arla in Konalu village. He was allegedly killed by his father-in-law, Sunny alias Verghese (58).

Bose used to eke out a living by working as rubber tapper. Both Bose and Sunny lived in neighbouring houses, and drunken brawls were a regular affair between them. The locals, who found the two quarrelling on Sunday evening, were disinterested in the belief that it was another fight that would end soon.

On Sunday evening, Sunny reached Bose George's house and picked up fight with the latter. The verbal duel soon intensified, and culminated in Jose suddenly drawing out a knife and allegedly stabbing his son-in-law with a knife. Bose died on the spot.

It is learnt that because of his addiction to drinking, Bose George lived alone, and his wife, Soumya (30), had begun living with her father because of worsening misunderstandings with husband. The couple has two children.

Police from Nelyady outpost visited the spot. Uppinangady police later came to the spot and arrested the murder-accused. District superintendent of police, Dr Sharanappa, also visited the village and guided investigation.
