  • Courses on `plant tissue culture' and `food technology' approved
  • They will be introduced from the next academic year

Mangalore, Dec 28: Mangalore University has proposed to introduce two postgraduate diploma courses in "plant tissue culture" and "food technology", from the next academic year.

The Academic Council of the university in its meeting on December 19 approved the regulations and syllabi of these courses.

According to an official of the university, the council also approved the proposals of the university to introduce an undergraduate course in "security and detective sciences", and two postgraduate courses in "sales and marketing", and "human resource development" (HRD). The council also passed the regulations and syllabi of these courses.

The postgraduate course in "sales and marketing" was also awaiting the Government's approval.

According to the official, demand for experts in plant tissue culture was growing. A city-based college had come forward to introduce the postgraduate diploma course, the official said.

"Security and detective sciences" would be offered as a three-year Bachelor of Arts course.

The regulations and syllabi of these courses would be sent to the Chancellor for approval.
