India extra cautious on borders ahead of Obama visit

New Delhi, Jan 21 (IANS): Extra precautions were being taken along India's borders ahead of US President Barack Obama's visit as the government fears Pakistan may do something to divert attention, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar said Wednesday.

"Our borders are well protected," Parrikar said.

"Extra precautions are being taken not just because of security reasons. Sometimes something is done to divert attention," Parrikar told reporters.

"If something happens in Jammu and Kashmir... will not impact security here but it will divert attention," he added.
