Mangalore, Dec 30: People of the city and surrounding areas can listen to a number of classical music concerts and watch classical dance performances here up to January 18 as part of the Karavali Utsav.

Many of the classical vocal and instrumental programmes are being held at the University College, Hampankatta, and at Town Hall. Programmes such as dance and drama are being held at the exhibition grounds, Lalbagh.

Ravindra Kalabhavan at the University College will feature a flute concert by Akash of Bangalore, and Santhavani programme by Jayatheertha Mevundi and party of Hubli on December 30; and tabla by Pepay Ram of Italy, and devotional songs by Sangeetha Katti Kulkarni on January 5.

Vaishnavi Hanagal of Hubli will present a Hindustani vocal concert and Mysore Nagaraj and Manjunath will present a violin concert on January 7. Srinath Marathe of Mangalore will present a Carnatic vocal concert and Kasaragod Chinna will present compositions of dasas on January 12.

A violin concert by T G Gopalakrishna and "dasara padagalu" by Mahabaleshwara Bhagawat will be held on December 31. Classical concert by Ganesh Raj, and Hindi ghazals by Jitesh Sundaram of Kerala is on January 1.

A Hindustani vocal concert by Krsihnendra Vadekar and bansuri recital by Rajendra Prasanna of Delhi will be held on January 2.

Muddu Mohan of Bangalore will present a Hindustani vocal concert and Upendra Bhat of Pune will sing compositions of dasas on January 4. "Sundari vaadana" by Chidanand Siddaram Jadhav of Solapur, and Hindustani and Carnatic duet concert by Vinayak Thorvi and S. Shankar of Bangalore have been planned on January 6.
