Mangalore, Jan 2: Jaison Peris, a student of a school in Bijai was drowned in the Netravati River in Barimar in Bantwal taluk on Monday, Jan 1.
A group of 25 students with an adult was on a picnic to Soorikameri village, Barimar which is an annual feature. The church youth team was accompanied by Fr Leo.
At noon when the children were playing in the water, Jaison Peris was caught in the currents and drowned. Those near him tried to rescue him, but failed. According to sources the boy was a resident of Kadri.
