Lucknow, Jan 3: Reeling under all-round criticism over police inaction that led to serial killings of children in Noida, the Uttar Pradesh government on Wednesday night suspended two superintendents of police and dismissed six policemen for alleged dereliction of duty.
Piyush Mordia, who was SSP Noida during the time the murder and sexual abuse of children took place, and now posted in neighbouring Ghaziabad, was suspended with Soumitra Yadav, additional SP, Noida.
The action follows the report by the two-member committee headed by principal home secretary Arun Kumar Singh that visited the Nithari village in Noida, the scene of the grisly killings.
Chief secretary Navin Chandra Bajpai told reporters that two SHOs and four police outpost in-charge near the village had been dismissed from service.
