PM Narendra Modi to visit China in May: Sushma Swaraj

Beijing, Feb 1 (PTI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit China in May this year, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj said today ahead of her meeting with her Chinese counterpart Wang Yi.

"Modiji is going to come in May. I will give them dates today. This is a preparatory visit," she told the Indian media after she addressed the Indian Community here.

She said her maiden visit to China also focussed on opening the additional route for the Kailash Manasarovar Yatra for which preparations are on. "It is a big thing," she said.

The route is expected to provide more comfortable journey experience to pilgrims with a facility to travel to Kailash-Manasarovar directly by buses.

Modi's visit to China is a reciprocal one by President Xi Jinping to India in September last year.

The visit is expected to put at rest concerns in China arising out US President Barack Obama's second visit that some analysts here say is aimed at scuttling burgeoning India-China ties.

Speculation is rife that Modi will be visiting Kailash through the new route when he arrives on his maiden visit to China as the Prime Minister.

Xi is expected to take him to Xian, capital of his home province Shaanxi, to recreate the bonhomie generated by Modi who had taken the Chinese President to Ahmedabad, the capital of his home state Gujarat.

Earlier addressing the Indian community of Beijing at the Indian Embassy here today, Swaraj appealed to the overseas Indian community to join various campaigns like 'Clean India', 'Clean Ganga' and 'Beti Bachao Beti Padao' initiated by Modi to help India progress.

Swaraj will meet her counterpart Wang today and call on President Xi tomorrow.

Ms. Swaraj will be flying with Mr. Modi to see China and will be inviting the people of Indian origin to land in India to clean river Gangus. What happened to the street cleaning?

Indeed, Mr. Modi being a true Swami Vivekananda disciple loves to visit countries of the world, and also likes to have the most expensive dress custom-made in Paris-New York and London. India's GDP will be overtaking both the U.S. and China next year.

During UPA rule we never saw either positive or negative comments like we see these days about ruling party and PM.This is because MODI Bhakths have started to project every F*&T by Modi as achievement.During UPA rule it was business as usual. But now there is bitter polarisation due to Theatrics and unethical politics by BJP. We see sea of comments in every media for and against BJP and Modi on every issue..This is diverting the real issues plaguing the nation and helping BJP to divert the real agenda of governance.

Now may be in the process of having Indian Air force 1, Boeing 747-800 because Mr. Modi saw President Obama's Air Force 1 Boeing 747 at a very close range.

Since Mr. Modi is travelling more often, instead of chartering an Air India, it is better to have a custom-made Boeing 747-800 or Airbus 380 to fly in high class wearing Rs. 20 lakh outfit. India's PM should not be second to any Prime Minister or President in the world.
