This program is organized to motivate the children towards reading books and build up their general knowledge. Secondly, motivate them to divert their interest towards reading books apart from excessive depending on the different technologies.

The guests were welcomed to the program with the Poorna Kumba. The program was started with the welcome dance led by Pravinya and team. Hilda Pinto, coordinator sponsor relation, welcomed the guests and the gathering to the program.

Introductory Speech

Fr Vinod Mascarenhas, the director, CKSK said, you become what you read and you become what you eat. There is one saying 'tell me your friends I will tell who you are?' By knowing ones friend we can understand how the person is.

Nowadays children are very lethargic towards their studies and towards reading skills. Children are always engaging themselves in various unhealthy activities like internet, whats app, face book etc but hardly children are interested to develop reading skills.

Today we have organized the program to motivate the children to read more and more which helps not only to their studies but also helps to develop moral values in their life. We should internalize good knowledge and values and thus build up our personality.

He also said, that people hardly read and those who read, must understand and interpret it properly. While cultivating the reading habit one should read good valuable, informative, character building articles and editorials. He quoted 'The Hindu' editorial which says it is not only enough to read but one should be able to interpret it well and one should be able to read the mind of the writer.

He said, Mahatma Gandhi and Nathuram Godse both read Bhagavat Geetha. But both interpreted it differently. One became Mahatma and another became a murderer. It is up to us, to interpret properly and to learn the real crux of the article.

Later Master Santhosh shared his experience as being a sponsored child and he explained how he would be able to develop himself through the children's club and through the child fund programs. He says, ”He would able to experience the love and care of his sponsor and the organization through this sponsorship program. He would also be able to develop his personality through various activities arranged by the project and gain much training which would mold his interest and personality.

Inaugural Speech

Puttashetty, Thahashildar of Belthangady Taluk inaugurated the program by pouring water on a small plant. Following the opinions of Fr Vinod he said, nowadays we can see the children using mobiles during their studies which is a big hazard for their life. To motivate the children towards the reading skills, the organization has arranged this beautiful occasion and I request all of you to continue this practice throughout your life. I congratulate the director as well as the organization for their immense support to the society and wish them to continue the same in future days.

Eleyara Dwani magazine inauguration

Nanyappa Poojari, owner of the Suvarna Arcade, Belthangady inaugurated the Eleyara Dwani 8th edition and congratulated the children as well as the organization and wished all the success for the future activities.

Book Distribution

Shailesh Kumar, the member of Zilla Panchayat, inaugurated the program 'books are my friends' by symbolically distributing the books for few children.

He said, children are the wonderful recourse of this nation. CKSK has been trying so much for the betterment of the children and the society. As an individual I have great respect towards CKSK. It always works for and along with the least people of the society.

Today our society is rapidly moving towards the technological world. Today we and our grandparents do not have enough time to spend with each other and therefore we do not have that experience of our lovely grand parents those earlier use to entertain their grandchildren with the moral stories and create moral values in their children.

We need to give importance to reading and learning. Our chief minister has said, they will make compulsory Kannada education till 5th standard. But it is very sad that we are trying to feed the difference in the children’s mind about the English medium and Kannada medium that indirectly indicates the strength of a rich man and weakness of a poor man.

I am proud of CKSK for their immense support towards the least people of the society. That also towards the HIV and disabled people who really in need of such support for their better life. He wished all the success to the future project activities.

Priya, Childfund sponsored child said, I am very thankful to CKSK and childfund for this great opportunity for selecting me for this sponsorship program. I enjoyed very much in the children clubs.

Initially I was very lethargic towards the children clubs and its activities. Later my mother forced me to attend the club. I gradually developed the interest towards the club and I got many awareness programs, competitions, camps etc. The director and the staff of the organization support each and every child in the clubs and motivating us to succeed in our life by arranging different programs. I also thank my kind hearted sponsor who lives in America who sends me birthday cards, letters etc for my better life. I enjoy the company of all staff and children in CKSK.

Dr Shivasharan, brother of Gurukiran, singer and director of Kannada film distributed the books to the children. A book may be of 30 or 300 pages, the values of the book are invaluable. One should understand the real soul of the writer. Then he/she is able to develop ones knowledge and personality. It is really a great program to motivate the children to build a strong nation through these small children.

My brother had to come for this program but unfortunately he was unable to attend. But in future you can arrange the same kind of program for children he surely will attend and interact with the children.

Later cultural program was conducted by the children. Jalaja, animator extended vote of thanks to the guests and audience. MCing was conducted by M Lavina, accountant and Joyce, 0-5 age group coordinator. The program was concluded by lunch at 1.30 pm.
