Mangalore / Dubai, Jan 8: Bearys Cultural Forum, under the auspices of the Indian Islamic Centre, Dubai will hold “BCF Higher Educational Scholarship Meet 2007” in the Fiza Garden Hall, Pandeshwar, Mangalore at 10-00 am on Sunday, January 21.
`Beary’ is a Muslim ethnic group that originated from the coastal parts of the state of Karnataka in India. Bearys Cultural Forum (BCF) was formed in the United Arab Emirates under the auspices of Dubai Indian Islamic Centre, UAE.
BCF’s main objective is to promote, educate and create social, cultural and educational awareness amongst the Bearys in the UAE and India. The BCF regularly conducts cultural, sports, talent search, educational activities and Iftar party every year. BCF also provides the high-scoring and deserving Beary students with educational scholarships for pursuing their higher studies in the field of medicine, engineering etc.
Janab Zafarullah Khan, chief adviser to BCF stated, “In today’s liberalized economy, increasing poverty and child labour, it is pertinent to educate the children to the highest order of the day.” Honorary president Dr. B.K. Yusuf stated that the national policies of the countries should provide minimal education to the children for eradicating poverty. Therefore, BCF is going to provide scholarships to the downtrodden children of the Bearys to pursue College education in the field of Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Commerce, Management, Nursing, Engineering etc.
Dr Kaup Mohamed, honorary general secretary stated that one of the requisites to any economic development is to abolish child labour and provide all the children with the right to education and transform it as one of the basic necessities of life.
The event is being organized by patrons B M Farooque and K S Shekabba and is being sponsored by Fiza Developers and Inter-trade Pvt Ltd.
