Mangalore, Jan 8: Shedding blood is not violence. For ayurvedic doctor Mahesh Yadav of Bhopal it is a non-violent mode of expressing his solidarity with a cause.
On the day the nation remembered the Quit India Movement, Dr Mahesh Yadav started Free Tibet Movement. He writes letters to people in power and paints portraits of freedom fighters in his campaign for free Tibet. And he does all that with his blood!
A graduate in Ayurveda, a diploma holder in Acupressure and a Master degree holder in Electro Homoeopathy, Dr Mahesh on Monday, January 08, 2007 brought his movement to Mangalore.
He has been working seflessly for the past 10 years for Free Tibet movement as the convener of Mahatma Gandhi Free Tibet Movement.
Making portraits of world leaders like the Dalai Lama, Bill Clinton, Abdul Kalam and other with his blood to signify the gravity of his unconditional support and sacrifice for the Tibetan issue and sending blood in scripted letter to world leaders are a few among his various Free Tibet activities.
He left his house on December 10, 2006 with a planned programme to hold Free Tibet activities in 59 cities across the country. He has written letters in his blood to the Chinese president with the appeal of 'Leave Tibet' and he has also written letters to the UNO, Britain, France, Indian Government and world leaders with his urging them to work for Global Amity ,Freedom of Tibet and concord.
It was the day in the history of Bhopal, when Dr Mahesh wrote a letter from his own blood to the state government regarding the ill-effects of liquor and its impact on the women's life. He continued his protest and made the pictures of almost all important and famous people like politicians of our country and wrote letters to them and made it a national event.
A social activist, Dr Mahesh favours the Tibet movement and has made over 100 portraits of His Holiness Dalai Lama with his blood to instill patriotism in the Tibetan youth, thus furthering the cause of Free Tibet.
“It was an unforgettable day when he met His Holiness Dalai Lama and asked for his guidance and blessings,” said Dr Mahesh. They spoke for about 35 minutes on different topics including the Tibet issue and world peace. He also presented him with a portrait of Dalai Lama himself painted in blood
He is continuously running a blood campaign to raise concern towards Global Peace, Liberation of Tibet, Safety of India and for a World free from nuclear weapon and terrorism.
"I would have been happy using ink and pen if it could help change the mindset of the fanatics. The blood mode is intended to arouse their conscience,” said Dr Mahesh.
On Monday, Dr Mahesh wrote a letter in his blood to Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh asking the Indian Government to press the government of the China to enter into earnest negotiation with the Tibetan government in exile.
He further urged the Indian Parliament to put into action the November 14, 1962 resolution that was passed after China attacked India and captured Indian land.
Dr Mahesh is surely a blood-boil for China, but for the Tibetans he is a source of motivation.
