Policemen gave the names of the deceased as Jnanasundari (55) from Chunchaghatta and hear relative, Prathibha (37).

Jnanasundari's husband, Chandrashekhar, and Pratibha's husband, Ravishankar, work as priests in a nearby temple. Jnanasundari's family members had ventured out of the house after putting the boiler switch on. At that time, Pratibha, living in the adjacent house, visited Jnanasundari. When talking to Pratibha, Jnanasundari remembered that she had been asked to switch off power supply to the boiler. Before putting off the switch, she wanted to check whether the water had become hot enough, and placed her fingers inside the boiler, and instantly got electrocuted.
