Bantwal, Feb 12: In an incident about which suspicions are being expressed, a newly married woman committed suicide by hanging herself at Hallarbali in Panjikallu village in the taluk on the evening of Tuesday February 11.

The lady who ended her life in this fashion is Savita (25), wife of Ganesh Poojary, a local. Ganesh, working as a mechanic of air-conditioners at Hubballi, had married Savitha without any dowry about a month back in the town.

Savitha hails from Mangalpady in Kasargod district. The police feel that Savitha would have ended life because of the fact that treatments obtained by her from various quarters for her health problems like epilepsy and a sense of fear that keeps nagging her would have driven her to commit suicide.

Bantwal tahsildar, Muhammed Iqbal, deputy tahsildar, Sadhu, and others visited the spot and recorded their observations. A report about this unnatural death was registered in the rural police station here.
