Udupi: Agricultural Credit Co-operation Society election on Feb 15

Udupi, Feb 14: The Agricultural Credit Co-operation Society Limited, Brahmavar, will conduct its election on Sunday February 15 at Board High campus, Brahmavar, from 9 am to 4 pm.

About 11 enthusiastic candidates have submitted their nominations. All of them have equal experience and have rendered their service in various fields.

The nominated candidates are:
1. Rajesh Shetty Birthi, director, Agricultural Credit Co-operation Society Limited, Brahmavar
2. Umesh Nayak, Cherkady, director of Amba Bhavani Multi-purpose Co-operation Society
3. Dinkar Poojary, RDB Ltd., Udupi
4. S Narayan, Varamballi, former member, Varamballi village panchayat
5. Lalitha Shedti, Agrahara Chantaru, president, Milk Production Co-op Society, Chantar
6. Jayanti Poojarti, vice-president, Harady village panchayat
7. Harish Shetty Cherkady, former president, Janajagruthi Vedike Kokkarne
8. Jaya Marakala Neelavar, former official, Agricultural Credit Co-operation Society Limited, Brahmavar
9. Anil Rodriguez, Baikady, former president, Yuvaka Mandal Baikady
10. K P Ibrahim, Matpady, former president, Rotaract Club, Brahmavar
11. Sheena Poojary, former president, Handady

Members of the society said, “Nearly 8,000 members out of 14,000 will cast their vote. We hope for the best and everyone wants change in administration”.

Agricultural Credit Co-operation Society Limited, Brahmavar, was established in 1910 and has notched successive milestones with the objective of providing financial support to all farmers, women workers, and self-help groups.
From 30 years, one core group has been running the bank and providing efficient service. The present director is Timmappa Hegde and managing director is K Venkatramana Bhat.

The reserved seats are six in general category, two for OBC, two for women, and one seat in the SC/ST category. The bank has extended its seven branches to 11 villages.

Annual financial report:

The Society marked its century this year. Its annual report displays good progress in inputs and outputs as well. The total balance is Rs 2,75,97,40,706 in the financial year 2013-14. The total yielding profit is Rs 1 crore up from March 31, 2014. The deposited amount is Rs 66, 76, 37,174.74. The working capital is Rs 78 crore and dividend fund (DF) is 18 percent.
Membership:

The total number of share holders is 9, 595 under ‘A’ class and 13,118 under ‘B’ class.
Services:

The Co-operative Society renders various types of services in the areas of micro-credit, micro savings, micro insurance, and other support services like educational sponsorship to poor children of single mothers or repressed classes amounting to Rs 1 lac per year.

The Society is providing loans for home, business, and education at low interest rates and it offers privileges too.
