Udupi, Jan 17: A nineteen-year-old boy who had come down from Mumbai only a day ago was killed after a speeding lorry rammed into the mobike he was travelling at Kanjarkatte near Padubidri here on Tuesday January 16 evening.

The deceased has been identified as Sandeep Kotian (19), a resident of Inna near Shirva.  He was working in Mumbai and had come down to his native only on Monday January 15.  On Tuesday, after finishing some urgent work at Mulki, he was on his way to Belman along with his friend Premanand when a lorry hit their M-80 mobike opposite Hotel Kamath at Kanjarkatte.  While Premanand was riding the vehicle, Sandeep was riding the pillion.

As soon as the lorry hit the bike, Sandeep fell on the road and sustained critical injuries.  The injuries were so severe that he died on the spot.  Premanand too sustained injuries and is now admitted hospital.  The lorry which hit the mobike later hit a school boy Kishan who too is in the hospital now.

Sandeep had gone to Mumbai after completing his education recently.  Since he needed his college certificate, he had come down on Monday.  On Tuesday he went to Vijaya College at Mulki where he had studied and collected his certificate.  After fetching the certificate he was waiting for the bus in the Padubidri to go to his house when his friend Premanand who was passing through the same way asked him to accompany.  Sandeep had to go back to Mumbai on Wednesday January 17.  But the fate had something else in store for him.  He was killed in the tragic accident.

A complaint in this regard has been filed in the Padubidri police station.
