Lizard in food -over 40 students of residential school take ill

Koppal, Feb 17: Over 40 students of a government hostel here suffered from symptoms of food poisoning on Monday February 16, after which medical treatment was made available. The students were treated by the doctors of the district hospital here.

The incident occurred at the hostel for post-matriculation students from scheduled castes and tribes located at Kinnala Road here. When lunch was served, one of the students found a lizard in the sambar. Immediately thereafter, students who had already consumed food began to vomit one by one.

Out of over 40 students referred to the hospital, 23 students, whose symptoms were of serious nature, were admitted into the hospital. Others were sent back after treatment as they showed symptoms of recovery.
